SUPER Falcons of Nigeria go into today’s Africa Women Championship (AWC) qualifier against Zinbabwe with a 2-0 advantage over the visitors.
However, coach Kadiri Ikhana believes it is not yet a finished contest and has, therefore, charged his players not to underrate the Zimbabweans in the return leg match slated for the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
”It is a good thing that we won the first leg at the Rufaro Stadium, Harare, but that is not to say we have sealed victory yet. They will be coming here to surprise us, that is why we should not relax and toy with them”, Ikhana warns.
The former Enyimba of Aba gaffer is, however, banking on the support of Nigerians to help the team clinch victory, calling on them to come out enmasse and cheer the Falcons to victory.
“I want to urge all football fans in Lagos to come out and support the team on Saturday. The game against Zimbabwe is very crucial and the fans can be the 12th-man if they give us the support needed to defeat them.
“In Zimbabwe, the Rufaro stadium had about 20,000 fans and it was an amazing atmosphere. Even though their team lost by 2-0 they still had the support of their fans and we pray to receive the same in Lagos.”
