Libya: Telephone conversation between Minister Frattini and the National Transitional Council’s new Prime Minister, Abdul Rahim Al Keib

 

ROME, Italy, November 9, 2011/African Press Organization (APO)/ — Foreign Minister Franco Frattini had a cordial telephone conversation today, 8 November 2011, with the new Prime Minister of Libya’s National Transitional Council, Abdul Rahim Al Keib

Minister Frattini congratulated the new Prime Minister on his appointment, on his own behalf and that of the Italian Government. He expressed his hope that a new government representing all strands of Libyan society would be formed as soon as possible. Frattini reiterated Italy’s firm determination to strengthen and build upon its already close collaborative relations with the authorities and civil society of the new Libya, in the name of the historic bonds of friendship linking the two peoples. He also told Al Keib of his intention to visit Tripoli once the new Government is installed.

Prime Minister Al Keib thanked Minister Frattini for the attention and friendship Italy has shown to his country. He assured the Minister that the intention to maintain fruitful relations is fully reciprocated by Libya, in a shared commitment to promote close collaboration in all sectors.
