The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) will tomorrow unveil former coach of Enyimba, Kadiri Ikhana as the new coach of the Super Falcons, three weeks after the body’s technical committee chose him to replace former player Uche Eucharia as coach.
A statement from the NFF states that the vastly experienced coach, who has coached various club sides in the country has been offered a four-year contract. “Ikhana has a job to turn around the fortunes of the team and ensure that Nigeria not only qualifies for the World Cup, but starts to make appreciable impact at all global tournaments,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile the newly appointed coach does not see his gender, hampering him from doing a good job with the Super Falcons.
“Coaching has the same language everywhere in the world. If I could win laurels with Enyimba, Kano Pillars and other clubs, the challenge then is transforming my experience to the benefit of the Falcons. Football is all about passing and receiving the ball; when you score a goal, you have only passed inside the net.
“There is a little difference between male and female football because the men have resistance. But we can bridge the gap a bit and make the girls play like the boys.” said Ikhana.
Also it has been confirmed that the newly appointed technical director Tom Saintfiet will now resume officially in May. This much was disclosed by the NFF’s spokesman Ademola Olajire.
“Mr Tom Saintfiet should resume in May because his work permit is being processed and hopefully that will be ready in time so that he will resume next month. Also the issue of his accommodation is being sorted out. So it’s all done and dusted as we expect him to resume as the country’s technical director in a matter of weeks,” Olajire said
