The Nigerian men’s basketball team, D’Tigers wrapped up their participation in the four-nation tournament with a 74-66 points win over New Zealand on Friday.

Nigeria finished third behind powerhouses, Brazil and Greece at tournament in San Carlos.

D’Tigers lost their opening two games to Greece and Brazil by 76-88 and 65-104 points respectively.

Power forward of the Nigerian side, Ejike Ugboaja, believes the experience of facing Olympic favourites, Brazil and fourth-ranked side in the world, Greece would come handy when the Olympic Qualifying Tournament gets underway in Caracas, Venezuela on July 2.

“It was a good experience for the team,” said Ugboaja. “Now we will be heading to Venezuela to play in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament and hopefully we will do well and win a place to the Olympics in London.”

D’Tigers are drawn in same group as hosts, Venezuela and Lithuania.
