Community Relations Officer at Ekiti State Tourism Development

A State Government (Ekiti State) in Nigeria recently partnered with the Mantis Collection Group to manage a Cold & Warm Springs Resort. This is a landmark that leverages the unique position the State enjoys in the tourism and hospitality industry and enables a diversified economic base. The Resort project is envisioned to deliver a 3 and 5-star hotel environment complete with conferencing facilities, a heliport, golf course and business resort, and is located around a famous Warm Spring in the South-Western part of Nigeria.

As part of its start-up initiatives, the State Government intends to recruit competent and suitably qualified professionals to fill various positions in the Warm Springs Resort.

Ekiti State Tourism Development is recruiting to fill the below position:

Community Relations Officer”WSR0011
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate shall serve as the link man between the host community and the Resort management on issues affecting the tourist center, management and visitors. He/she will promote good relationship between the Resort management and the community.

Responsibilities

Bring to the notice of the Management all issues that need urgent attention affecting the Resort project and the community.
Ensure that all visitors coming to the tourist centre are well received and treated by the community.
Alert the Management as quickly as possible on issues that may bring misunderstanding between the contractor/management of the tourist center and the community.
Perform any other functions assigned by the management of the Warm Spring Resort.

Qualifications and Experience

A good flrst degree, preferably in any Social Sciences discipline from a reputable institution.
Minimum of four (4) years relevant experience in a similar role with in the hospitality industry.
Native of the Warm Spring Resort Community.
Experience in managing the government, external or community relations of any reputable multinational organisation.
Proven ability in liaising with community groups/interests, handling communications, settling disputes, etc.
Knowledge of HSE and regulatory requirements.
Good communication, problem-solving, interpersonal and people skills.
