Car bomb strikes funeral in mainly Shiite area as blasts kill 37 in Baghdad
BAGHDAD – Iraqi police and officials at two Baghdad hospitals say 37 people have been killed as the death toll continues to rise in the bombing of a Shiite funeral. Authorities say 78 people were wounded in the mid-afternoon Thursday blast. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they aren’t authorized to release the information. The car bomb ripped through a funeral tent in a mainly Shiite area of Baghdad. It was the deadliest in a series of attacks over the last week that have left more than 200 dead.
