The country’s contingent to the ongoing London 2012 Olympic Games have been battling to grapple with the crisis rocking the camp of Team Nigeria where the athletes are grumbling over what they described as total neglect by the officials which has been the bane of the country’s bid to win medals.
Feelers from the Games Village camp of Team Nigeria reveal that while other athletes are organised to face the competitions from opponents Nigerian athletes are busy struggling with their welfare as they are said to be paid US$100 per day as allowance while the officials are feeding fat in their various hotels at highbrow area of London.
Investigation also revealed that Team Nigeria unlike other countries’ contingents lack the necessary personalities needed to put athletes in competitive mood as there are no team psychologist, sports medicine doctors and physical trainers which has contributed immensely to the athletes’ woeful performance.
Inside sources who preferred anonymity revealed that the athletes are waiting for the right time to carry out an open protest that would even attract the attention of the world press in order to press home their demand for a better treatment.
The source also disclosed that it took the intervention of top NSC personnel to calm the athletes who almost took to the streets of the Games Village to register their displeasure adding that it would take the grace of God for Nigeria to win any colour of medal with the morale of the athletes being at its
